In one of the most anticipated midterm elections in recent political history, things went, to a large extent, as opinion polls predicted. Democrats cleaned up in the suburbs, using a large gender gap to restore the majority they lost. In the Senate, geography was destiny. The map was heavily skewed to Republican-friendly states where President and the Republican Party had a series of victories in those states. ELECTION RESULTS
